Self Defense-- Yet Charged with Murder

This County in this story is very corrupt. Basically the story goes somewhat like this.

A man from Texas shot and killed one of the three men that were harassing and attempting to do harm to the Texan. Three men were trying to get the Texan (Brandon Jenkins) out of his vehicle. Feeling as if his life were being threatened Jenkins shot and killed one of the offenders and barely grazed another. Jenkins has now been charged with Murder.

This case is a clear case of self defense. Jenkins being from Texas where he had a right to carry his weapon and to fire upon anyone who threatened his life; did just that. What would anyone do in the same situation where three people were threatening your physical safety? If you felt that your life were in danger, would you shoot to kill?

Without a doubt, I would! Jenkins is a Marine, rather he is still in the service or not is a moot point to this writer. We train our service members to fight with deadly force when it is called for. We train them to shoot to kill when their life or another persons life is in jeopardy. Once our hero's come back home to the states, we wonder why they don't or can't turn off that lesson.

Why do I say this county in question is corrupt? This is just one of many stories over the years where the politicians here have taken the law and bent it to suit their own personal views. Jenkins did what he was trained to do. His life was clearly about to change. The three men that were about to give him a beat down; were well known in this town as being trouble makers. This time they picked on the wrong person.

Do I feel bad that one of these men lost their lives? NO. Earp (the one killed)had no sense of right or wrong. He felt that he could do whatever he wanted and get away with it. To the point of his death, he had gotten away with pretty much everything. No one had ever really stood up to him before. This time though, he met his match. You don't go around tormenting whoever you want. If you do, you may just find yourself on the loosing end.

I don't want to focus on the fact that Jenkins is a Marine. His service to this country isn't in question here. He is and always will be a hero. Jenkins took care of what was important that fateful night. He saved his own life. That in and of itself is all his friends and family could have asked for.

In Illinois you must have a FOID card to buy, sell, use, or possess a gun and ammunition. Being from Texas, Jenkins did not have that card to my knowledge. However he is not charged with illegal possession of a firearm.

There is a Fund set up to help Jenkins and his family. You can go here to help with a donation. There is also an Online Petition.

As someone that has lived in Richland County, I am appalled that our elected officials are still using their messed up interpretations of the law to charge law abiding citizens. Yes Jenkins shot and killed a man and wounded another. However; Jenkins saved his own life which is more than our elected officials would do for anyone.

Please help get this story told to everyone you can. Spread this story around your area. We NEED national attention on this story. Jenkins is not and more than likely will not get a fair trial in this County.  Help us save this Marines future.

I thank you and so does his family and friends.

Home

I made it back from Alabama late last night. I'm still trying to relax, yet I have a ton of unpacking to get finished. I didn't unpack one single thing today. I ended up spending the day at my Aunt's house. Tomorrow I have to go turn the rental car back in, which means another day that I won't get a lot of things accomplished. That's okay, I have a few more days to get everything taken care of before I have to get back into the everyday groove of things.

I'll be back to posting daily soon! I can't wait.

Illness of a loved one

Hello readers,

My husbands grandmother/adopted mother is ill. We found out last night she has been in the hospital for 22 days and no one notified my husband. I am going to be leaving here in the next day or two, to go to where she is and be with her.It isn't looking good for her, and the doctors don't expect her to make it much longer.

So as much as I have been having a great time posting daily news stories here, I will not be for a little while. I need to take this time to be with her as she will more than likely not be with us much longer. I will update here as often as I can.

10 Year Old Kills 12 Year Old.

Yes it's another case of a child killing a child. This time the suspect is just 10 years old. The victim a 12 year old boy that was the hero of the day. The story as told by CNN:

The 12 year old saw what was about to happen. The 10 year old suspect swung a knife at another little boy. The 12 year old remembering what his parents had taught him, moved in front of the suspect. The victims parents had taught their son, if you see a fight; stop it.

That is just what this hero did by stepping in front of the knife that the suspect was swinging. What his parents taught him may have ended his life; but he died a hero to another little boy.

The suspect in this awful case faces no more than 15 years, he must be released by the time he turns 25 if not sooner. His next court date is February 23rd.

Body Parts in California

On Tuesday a head of a man believed to be 40-60 years old was found in a plastic bag by two people walking nine dogs. A short time later police also find two hands. On Wednesday two feet were found in the same area. Investigators believe that the two hands and the head belong to the same person. It wasn't stated if the feet are also believed to be from the same body. The body parts were located near the Hollywood sign.

The first hand was found around 50 yards from where the head was found on Tuesday. Tune into CNN or HLN for the latest information.

Those Who Need Help the Most

As of late we have been hearing stories of violence against those that need our help the most, our Country's homeless.

Just recently we heard of a suspect that had stabbed four homeless men to death. His arraignment on four counts of murder will be on Wednesday. He faces a minimum of life in prison without parole. The maximum penalty is a death sentence. His four charges include special circumstances of multiple murders, laying in wait and use of a deadly weapon according to CNN.The District Attorney had this to say, "The fact that the violence was escalating and it was becoming more brazen suggested to me he wasn't done. He appeared to me he liked the press coverage".

His first victim was stabbed more than forty times. According to the DA, the number of stab wounds on each victim increased. The murder weapon of choice was a 7 inch  knife that went through bone without damaging the blade.

Iowa "Mom" From Hell

Jackie Burkle lied to her co-workers. She tried to hide the pregnancy from the beginning. Then one day she shows up to work looking completely different. Her co-workers became suspicious and called police. The police took the call serious thank goodness. They went to Jackie's home to investigate the
situation. A blood test revealed that she had in fact recently been pregnant. She admitted to police that she had given birth.

Jackie then proceeded to tell the police where her twin daughters bodies were. That's right, she not only had one newborn but two. She must have been trying to decide what to do with their tiny little bodies, because she had them in the trunk of her car. This "mother"  is 22 years old. She knows right from wrong. She hide the pregnancy the best she  could. She knew it was wrong to not take those precious angels to the hospital.

There isn't any more on this story at this time over at HLN.

Teenage Murderer

Two years have gone by, and finally this murdered girls family is going to see some justice. A 17 year old girl has now pleaded guilty to killing her nine year old neighbor. That's right she killed a 9 year old little girl.

Alyssa Bustamante entered a guilty plea to lesser charges of second degree murder and armed criminal action. The murder occurred on October 21st, 2009 in the death of Elizabeth. Alyssa is scheduled for sentencing on February 6th. She could be facing 10 to 30 years on the second degree murder charge.

Alyssa was 15 at the time she committed the murder. She allegedly  told police that she killed the young girl "just to see what it felt like". Many of her statements were thrown out on grounds that the juvenile officer present during questioning "used deceptive tactics". Reportedly misleading the defendant on what the punishments for her could be.

Thank you to CNN for this updated story.

As the media moves forward through technology, we hear more and more about these types of cases. This sometimes leads people to believe that cases such as this one are happening more often. This is not necessarily true.

Our media reaches all corners of the world now. As such they are able to get more stories in their hands and out to us, the public. Doing just a tad of research on Google shows that children murderers have been affecting our world for many years. Some going way back in time.

Protestors--The Sick Story

Our Service Members give them the rights that they enjoy. Protestors are given the freedom to protest whatever they wish. Our Military makes sure that everyone is afforded the right to protest as they see fit. Little did our soldiers know that they would be giving that freedom to a group of hate filled lunatics.

I'm sure everyone has heard of the group I am referring to. The Westboro fanatical group that finds pleasure in protesting at our Service Members funerals. For some sick and twisted reason they seem to get a kick out of making family members hurt even more. As if losing a loved one wasn't horrible enough for the family, these crazed psychopaths at Westboro enjoy inflicting more pain.

Starke County, IN, get ready to stand up for a soldier that stood up for your freedoms! The Westboro idiots will be attending the funeral of U.S. National Guard Specialist Robert J. Tauteris Jr. Indiana law requires that the protesting group stay 500 feet away. That is still too close to a hero.

The group has commented that they don't care about how the family feels. They stated that the family had done the "boy" ( I am only using the term they used, he is a man a hero) wrong. I would like to know what Westboro thinks that the family did to "do the boy wrong". They raised him to have the highest morals, they raised him to believe in his country. He served his country with pride, and gave his life for our freedoms.

It is groups such as these monsters that I give no mercy to. I don't usually wish pain or suffering on anyone. However Westboro has made me have hate in my heart. I wish these adults in the group, the worst kind of pain possible.

My husband is fighting for our freedoms as we speak here tonight. It pains me to know that he is one of so many that fight for these idiots rights to protest a hero's funeral. While I have a heart full of pride for what my husband does, these Westboro demons don't deserve his commitment. They do not deserve to be sacrificed for.

If you live in the area of Starke County IN. please show your support for our hero by attending the services for this brave soldier. The details of the story can be found here.

American Pride

Every year thousands of our U.S. citizens sign up to defend our Country. Thousands go off to fight in war. They leave behind so many family, friends, and loved ones. Those of us that are left here at home go through a wide range of emotions.

We are certainly proud of our service members. We also have those days when it is very difficult to get through. We worry daily about how they are. We hope that they are staying safe, we hope that they are doing well. We miss them like we have never missed anything or anyone.

Jennifer Petkov -- Monster from Hell

This story is rather old. However it is still a horrible shock to hear about.

This woman; Jennifer Petkov age 33 at the time; taunted a poor helpless dying seven year old little girl on Facebook. Jennifer had been taunting the child's grandmother as well. The child lost her mother to Huntington's Disease when she was only six years old. At the time that the child was being taunted by a neighbor woman the child was just seven years old and was Stage 3 in her disease.

This woman Jennifer who was neighbors with the child and her grandmother, was asked by a local news agency why she would do something like this to a dying child. Her response? Because it "rubs her ass raw".

Supposedly Stephanie believed that her son was showing signs of autism. Her son, was only 6 months old at the time of his murder.

TSA and the Case of the Not-So-Cupcake

What is a cupcake? A miniature cake in a wrapper right? According to some TSA officials, it might just be our next "cupcake bomb". As according to the TSA; terrorists are using every day items to conceal their bombs.

Recently a woman and her husband along with a jar of cupcake made it through one screening by the TSA. Apparently Boston's Logan Airport thought the jarred cupcake looked delicious. While her Red Velvet cupcake was stopped in the Las Vegas Airport and the "offending" cupcake was confiscated. Both cupcakes had been packaged in glass mason jars for easier passage through airport security by the bakery themselves.

Dear Customer who stuck up for his little brother

you thought I didn’t really notice. But I did. I wanted to high-five you.

Yesterday I had a pair of brothers in my store. One was maybe between 15-17. He was a wrestler at the local high school. Kind of tall, stocky and handsome. He had a younger brother, who was maybe about 10-12 years old. The only way to describe him was scrawny, neat, and very clean for a boy his age. They were talking about finding a game for the younger one, and he was absolutely insisting it be one with a female character. I don’t know how many of y’all play games, but that isn’t exactly easy. Eventually, I helped the brothers pick a game called Mirror’s Edge. The youngest was pretty excited about the game, and then he specifically asked me.. “Do you have any girl color controllers?” I directed him to the only colored controllers we have which includes pink and purple ones. He grabbed the purple one, and informed me purple was his FAVORITE.

The boys had been taking awhile, so their father eventually comes in. He see’s the game, and the controller, and starts in on the youngest about how he needs to pick something different. Something more manly. Something with guns and fighting, and certainly not a purple controller. He tries to convince him to get the new Zombie game “Dead Island.” and the little boy just stands there repeating “Dad, this is what I want, ok?” Eventually it turns into a full blown argument complete with Dad threatening to whoop his son if he doesn’t choose different items.

That’s when big brother stepped in. He said to his Dad “It’s my money, it’s my gift to him, if it’s what he wants I’m getting it for him, and if your going to hit anyone for it, it’s going to be me.” Dad just gives his oldest son a strong stern stare down, and then leaves the store. Little brother is crying quietly, I walk over and ruffle his hair (yes this happened all in front of me.) I say “I’m a girl, and I like the color blue, and I like shooting games. There’s nothing wrong with what you like. Even if it’s different than what people think you should.” I smile, he smiles back (my heart melts!) Big brother then leans down, kisses little brother on the head, and says “Don’t worry dude.” They check out and leave, and all I can think is how awesome big brother is, how sweet little brother is, and how Dad ought to be ashamed for trying to make his son any other way.

This story is credited to the original author; Kristen Wolfe. Her blog about this story was also posted on the Huffington Post.

I am always in awe of a child that sticks up for another child. The sad part is that the older boy had to do so against his father. I couldn't be more proud than to hear that the young man stood against his father so willingly. That is what we need more of in this Country, young people not afraid to take a stand against anyone. Bravo to this young man!

As for the youngest boy; sweetheart there is nothing wrong whatsoever with a young man liking purple or non-violent video games. You should be proud of yourself for not following what society says is "normal".  You showed just what kind of man you will be, strong and independent. I love that about this story, two brothers both strong and independent.

Good luck in life to both of these young men.

Viruses Sailing Around

Over the years I have seen quite a few "bad" viruses being sent over the internet. I haven't had issues with most of those, but know people that have. I haven't had a virus on my computer since 1995. Until two weeks ago that is. Two weeks ago I was sitting on a news website (not CNN) when my computer starting acting very strangely.

We tried letting our AV software take care of it, to no avail. We tried so many ways to get rid of it. No luck, so as the computer geeks that we are we knew the last option we had was to go back to manufacture state. Yep, we wiped everything on this computer off. It took hours to get this awful virus gone, but we managed it.

Well, I did IT!

I was blonde for about 18 hours. I didn't like it very much. It doesn't go with my complexion very well. I went blonde so that I could get the shade of red that I was after. After 6 years of trying to get a shade like Reba's I gave up because I just can't get my dark brown/black hair to go that red.

This time I tried a new brand of hair coloring that I have wanted to try for some time. My hair now has a pink/red tint to it. I am LOVIN' it! It looks awesome. My town is so DULL everyone looks at me like I am a martian or something. I don't care what they think, I did it because it was something I wanted to do. And as long as I love it, who cares what anyone else thinks.

Jon hasn't had a chance to see the red yet. He was able to see the pictures of me as a blonde for  those few hours though. He agreed, blonde and I are not meant to be. That's perfectly fine with me, as I love my red hair! I should have been born with red.

Here's a picture of me with my new color!

I love the shade it turned out! I used a brand called Splat, this is their Raspberry color. It is awesome! I am thinking about keeping it this way for the next year or two, maybe longer. It'll depend on what Jon thinks of course, but I am so happy with this color!

Todays post is late.

I apologize once again. I woke up this morning and left the house an hour later. I didn't expect to be gone all day. First we had a girls day out shopping. Then Mom, Faith and I got home and picked up the rest of the family. We all headed out to spend the afternoon having lunch and shopping some more. I got a killer pair of 5 1/2 inch heels. They are to die for!

After we got home we spent the next three hours turning my almost black natural hair color, from a dyed red to BLONDE! Yes, it's official I am now a strawberry blonde! I don't really know how I feel about it yet. It's still too new for me to know if I will like it. The girls like it even though they aren't used to seeing mom being blonde. Will I keep it blonde? No. It's okay for a short time, but not too long. I already miss my red.

Well, I'm tired tonight since it is after midnight here. Sleep well everyone.

Casey Anthony Video Blog.

First I want to say, I will not be posting the video. If you want to watch it that is your right to do so, that's why we value our freedoms here. I just refuse to help that woman in any way. Anyway the newest in her life, I supposed is that she is now video blogging. According to the CNN story on Casey, she didn't mention Caylee one time on the video. Is it really a surprise that she wouldn't talk about that small little girl?

Rather you agree that she was guilty or not, the fact that she didn't mention her dead daughter is telling of her disregard for the young girl. The death of such a sweet young baby is heartbreaking no matter if it was at the hands of her "parent" or not. No child deserves to die. They haven't had a chance to live their lives yet.

5 Days in

5 days into a daily blog for a year, and epic fail.  Well, I will have to do better won't I? Later today I will have two maybe more posts up. Please forgive me falling behind on Thursday. No excuses here, I plain forgot. My apologies.

Duct Tape and Facebook

This story was posted on CNN on December 31st, 2011. I ran across it a few days ago and decided it would make a good blog post. The following is the story:

A couple in Arizona are in custody after duct taping their kids hands, feet and mouths then posting photos of said taping onto Facebook. The children in this story are just 2 and 10 months old. The 2 year old is the couples son and the 10 month old is a baby girl. In one photo the young boy was seen hanging upside down by his taped feet from an exercise machine.
