American Pride

Every year thousands of our U.S. citizens sign up to defend our Country. Thousands go off to fight in war. They leave behind so many family, friends, and loved ones. Those of us that are left here at home go through a wide range of emotions.

We are certainly proud of our service members. We also have those days when it is very difficult to get through. We worry daily about how they are. We hope that they are staying safe, we hope that they are doing well. We miss them like we have never missed anything or anyone.

It's hard for parents, siblings, wives, girlfriends, aunts and uncles, grandparents, husbands. Most of all, it is hard for the children of those deployed. Children are strong in the face of having to say goodbye to a deploying parent. They are strong through the worst of days while their parent is overseas.

Then all of the emotion hits them when their deployed parent is standing there in front of them. All of those days of being strong comes down to mom or dad wrapping their arms around the child. No longer do they have to be strong. They can now let all of that emotion fill the moment. It's a weight being lifted off of their young shoulders.

Today I was cruising the internet as I tend to do with my husband overseas. I came across a website that I have now spent all day on. Welcome Home Blog is a website that if you visit it, you must have a box of tissues with you. As I and our daughters sit here at home wishing for the day when Jon will walk through our door again, this website hit home for me pretty hard.

Families of Service Members are very proud people. Our soldiers are fighting for our freedoms every day. It is hard from day to day to get through a deployment. But we stand tall knowing that our soldiers make such a huge differences in peoples lives.

There is no greater feeling in the world, than to welcome a soldier home. Especially when that soldier is your loved one. My soldier is still overseas, but I couldn't be more proud of him. It's hard when we don't get to talk much, there are days when you don't want to crawl out of bed. However they are the ones that are fighting for us, so we put one foot in front of the other. We make the most out of every day that we can.

We sit and we wait as patiently as we can, for the day when our soldier will walk through that door.
We love you Jon, we miss you very much. We are so very proud of you and the work that you do. Be safe my love and hurry home.
